Created in Strasbourg in 1996 by Marc Hervieux, the ensemble "Le Masque" regroups instrumentalists and singers eager to share their passion for the 17th and 18th centuries repertoire of the European nations.
From instrumental trios to ensembles gathering up to a dozen of musicians, the ensemble "Le Masque" explores the styles of the baroque repertoire through programs such as: "Si Dolce è il Tormento around Claudio Monteverdi", "Destins Croisés ou l'Univers de Jacob Van Eyck", " Danses et Symphonies à la Cour et au Théâtre", " Le Printemps célébré dans les Cantates Françaises", "Concertations Intimes ou les Sonates pour Flûte et Clavecin de J.S. Bach", "G.F. Haendel dans l'Angleterre du 18ème Siècle" and "Soirée dans le Goût Italien", Antonio Vivaldi: "Tra Impeto e Umanità" and "Concerti da Camera", "Concert chez Monsieur Telemann", "Dialogues en Miroir", where music mingles with baroque and contemporary choreography.
The ensemble performs regularly in "Alsace" (AMIA, Opéra du Rhin, Palais des Rohan, Festival de musique sacré de Saverne, Heures Baroque de Mulhouse); "Lorraine" (Festival de la route des Orgues, Festival Euro-Classique); "Champagne", "Auvergne", "Hautes-Pyrénées" (Festival Musiques et Vins de Madiran), "Charente-Maritime" (Festival de Musique en Ré) and Paris for the final concert of the "Auditirorium des Halles" (1997). The ensemble performs also in Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Russia, Italy, Lebanon and Israel.
The ensemble "Le Masque" remains faithful to the tradition of linking "Baroque Arts", by promoting the association of different forms of expression like theater, dance, graphical arts, gastronomy,... Since 2005, the ensemble "Le Masque" presents each year in Neuwiller-Lès-Saverne (Alsace), a "Summer Academy of Baroque Music and Dance" where the practice of baroque instruments and dance forms are taught. Around the "Academy", the ensemble created in 2010, the festival "Rencontres Baroques de Neuwiller".
The ensemble "Le Masque" maintains also strong ties with the "Palermo Arianna Art Ensemble" with whom he created a "Baroque Music class" in Gratteri (Sicily) in September 2010.
